Government Relations Coordinator
Description:
Primarily we are looking for someone with strong
technology skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and who is
versatile (able to handle a variety of administrative tasks) and
comfortable being the sole administrative person in the office.
Also, we want someone who is familiar with and comfortable working with
members of Congress and governmental organizations.
The position is located at 1730 M Street, NW, Suite
502 where we have a small office (5 or 6 employees). I have attached the
job posting and the position pays between $45 and $50.
Responsibilities:
Carry out projects
and support and assist in activities of the Policy & Government Relations
Team as well as provide administrative services for the AHIMA Washington
Office. This position also serves to support AHIMA Chicago-based and
telecommuter staff as assigned or requested. The position has regular
contract with AHIMA members. AHIMA staff members, Congressional and federal
department officials and staff, standards organizations and other
professional and trade association and agency representatives, vendors, as
well as the general public.
Knowledge and Skills:
To be credible to members and
other Association customers, the individual who occupies this position must:

Have experience in various
clerical, scheduling, bookkeeping functions including working (providing
clerical services for) with multiple professionals in an association,
congressional office or similar setting.

Have significant software
(Microsoft Office Suite, Budget, iMIS, Adobe, and other AHIMA software) and
keyboard skills. The position requires operating and maintaining the office
printers, scanner, backup computers, fax machine, and phone system.
Experience with association software would be considered a plus.

Have demonstrated familiarity
with Internet searches and experience working with government web pages a
real plus.

Have skills working with and
maintaining web pages.

Have superior verbal and
written communication skills (Internet, email, letters, memos, telephone,
face-to-face) when interacting with staff members, association members,
vendors, and representatives of other associations and members of
congressional staffs.

Have ability to edit materials
including articles, letters, comments, testimony, etc.

Have proficiency using Excel
and other accounting/budget software available at AHIMA to maintain and
update budget information and financial records.

Have good
organizational and project management skills.

Have ability to
organize schedules and materials for managers, team, committees, volunteers
and task forces

Have a flexible personality, work
independently and be a self-starter. Must project a professional and
positive demeanor.

Minimum of three years experience as a
general administrator of a small office that is part of a large
organization.
